People often ask: "At what age should my child be seen by an orthodontist?"
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic exam by age seven.

Do you know…

major or invasive orthodontic work can be prevented or minimized with early interceptive orthodontic treatment?

orthodontic problems often run in families, and early treatment can minimize expensive correction treatment later?

At Dr. Catherine Lee Orthodontics, we believe in early diagnosis and treatment. Not all children require early treatment. However, we strongly recommend children have their first orthodontic evaluation between ages five and seven.

Our goal is to catch potential problems in their early stages and help guide facial and jaw development during the active growing phase. We go beyond the scope of conventional orthodontics to monitor and modify jaw growth with early interceptive care (Phase I treatment). These early interventions take advantage of a child's natural development to improve smiles, faces and profiles, often minimizing the eventual need (in Phase II treatment) for removing good permanent teeth and reducing the overall cost of care.

We are happy to make certain that your children's teeth are part of our pre-orthodontic guidance program.

A child's smile and self-confidence are our Number One priorities.

Treatment for Teenagers (Phase II orthodontic treatment)

Orthodontics is both an exacting science and a demanding art. We strive to establish a stable, functional bite for teenagers to ensure their good smile and face will last a lifetime.

Do you know…

having straight teeth does not necessarily mean you have a good bite or occlusion?

orthodontic treatment can change the shape of your face and affect you smile?

A good, well-fitted functional bite, or occlusion, will ensure your teeth will last a lifetime. It's easy to have your teeth straightened; it requires more experience and skills to get your straight teeth to fit the bite and to improve your overall facial balance. Treatment begins with the foundation of your smile – your bones, jaw position, and teeth. This is how a good smile can last forever. Good orthodontic care is an investment that lasts a lifetime.

Braces need not hurt to work properly. As experts in the field of orthodontics, we have the experience, skills and technology to help achieve the smile of your dreams quickly and comfortably.

We also believe that wearing braces should be a healthy, happy experience! You and your child can choose braces that are silver, tooth-colored or crystal clear, and accessorize them with a rainbow of colors. We offer dozens of brilliant colors to brighten your smile, so that you will enjoy smiling with your braces on!

Why You Should Get Orthodontic Treatment?
Why An Orthodontist?
Adult

More and more adults are turning to orthodontics to improve their outlook on life and their overall oral health. Beautiful, straight and healthy teeth are meant for everyone. The fact is that your smile is your greeting card. Broad and open – it says you're happy and confident.

Many people think orthodontic treatment is only for children. You may be surprised to learn that 30 percent of our patients are adults who agree that it's never too late to have a healthy, beautiful smile.

Do you know…

you can sharpen your face shape and facial features with orthodontics treatment?

you may not need a prosthetic tooth (implant, crown, bridge etc.) to close an unsightly tooth gap?

crooked or crowded teeth can lead to gum disease, tooth decay and eventual early tooth loss?

malocclusion, or a bad bite, can cause jaw and facial pain, known as TMD (temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction)?

Some basic facts: if teeth are tipped or rotated, it is difficult for your toothbrush and floss to reach all areas exposed to decay. By straightening your teeth, braces help to minimize that exposure and allow your brush and floss to do their job.

Forget what you knew about braces. Modern orthodontic treatment is more comfortable, less visible and requires fewer appointments than you would expect. The use low-friction, tooth-colored ceramic/metal advanced technology that works with space-age wires, in combination with our skills and experience, creates the correct, gentle pressure to guide your teeth to their ideal position. This gentle pressure works with the natural forces of your body, allowing for greater comfort throughout treatment.

It is important to pay special attention to each adult patient's needs. We monitor progress periodically and adjust treatment accordingly to achieve the best results.

The treatment is for any age. Many of our adult patients say that having straight teeth improves their oral health, smile and self-confidence.

It's time to show the real you!
